There may not be that many splendid churches in northern Germany, but there is St. Severin in Keitum. Built on an elevation over 800 years ago, the tower of this Romanesque church guided sailors for many, many years. The perfect place to admire the view of the spectacular mudflats and dream about being on the captain’s deck of a magnificent windjammer. And, as of 2021, you could do just that from the veranda of one special house with a thatched roof in one of Sylt’s prettiest villages right by the mudflats.
